Winnie's Mythical Creatures

Winnie loves animals, mythology, and has a gift for creating soft sculptures. She started out making felt creatures (see the earlier post on her Obama doll), but has recently been hacking Beanie Babies that she finds in thrift stores into mythological creatures. Being a D&D player from my teen years, I love her love of mythology and it gives me a thrill to see the ubiquitous Beanie Baby repurposed into something so original.

Chimera: a cross between a lion, goat and snake

Cerberus: the three-headed dog

Sphinx: half woman, half lion, all cool

Kitsune: a 4-tailed (fox, skunk raccoon, snake) fox thingy from Japanese mythology

I find the subject matter combined with the softness of the materials very intriguing!

If the young artist is interested in commissioned pieces, I would love to see her interpretation of the Hippocampus (my favorite) or the darker likes of the Manticore.
